NEBridge - Navbar Documentation

1.      After you have logged in to the Admin section of the www.NEBridge.org website, click on the word “Menus” on the “Site administration” page.

 

2.      The NEBridge.org website has only one menu. On the “Select Menu to change” page click on the word “Navbar.”

 

3.      The “Change Menu” page appears. It lists all of the available options and sub-options that can be selected using the navigation bar on the left side of the home page. You can rearrange the options using the up and down arrowheads on the right of each option. Note that some of the options have sub-options and that some of the sub-options have sub-sub-options.

A.     To move an item up, click on the arrowhead pointing up. The screen will immediately be changed to reflect your action. To move an item down, click on the arrowhead pointing down.

B.     You cannot move a sub-option from one option to another.

C.     Do not attempt move the Calendar or Home page. The Calendar must always be the second option on the menu.

D.     If you do not need to add new options, delete options, or change the Caption or URL of an existing option, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the “Save” button in the lower right corner.

 

4.      If you want to add a new option, click on the “Add an item” text in the upper left. Otherwise, click on the blue text of the item that you wish to change.

 

5.      The “Change Menu item” page appears.

A.     The first field, Parent, allows you to specify where in the menu tree this option should be placed.

1)      If you want it to be on the main navigation bar that appears on the Home page of the NEBridge.org website, you should select “root” from the pull-down menu. 

2)      If it is sub-option of another option, select the option that the option that you are working on should be listed under.

3)      If you are working on an existing option, you will not see that option listed in the pull-down menu for the Parent field. An option cannot be its own Parent.

B.     The Caption is the text that appears in the Navigation Bar.

C.     The URL is the Internet address of the page that you wish to link to the option.

1)      The page can be one that was created using the editing tools. In that case the URL will be /pages/xx/, where xx is the page number that is listed in the “page URL” column of the “Select page to change” page. You can also find it by loading that page into the browser and inspecting the address bar.

2)      If the page was not created using the editing tools:

a)      Load the page in a browser.

b)      Select all of the text in the address bar using Ctrl C.

c)      Paste it into the URL field using Ctrl V.

D.     Do not use the Named URL field.

E.      To delete an option, click on the red text “X Delete” in the lower left corner.

F.      To save your work, click on one of the “Save” buttons in the lower right corner.

 

6.      When you return to the “Change Menu” page, be sure to scroll to the bottom and click on the “Save” button on the right if you rearranged any of the options.
