On February 13, Ingerlise-Lise Kilcoyne hosted the 90th birthday party of her good friend Claire McClennan. More than thirty people surprised Claire by attending. There was cake, song, well wishes and bridge. Claire was extremely surprised even though a couple of our members wished her a Happy Birthday before the 13th!
Claire has been the Treasurer of unit 113 for more than ten years and plays in our unit game faithfully and also plays on Fridays when she can! Claire works full time tending to properties but does take most Friday afternoons off to play bridge.
Claire has two sons, two grandchildren and eight grand cats!
Inger-Lise would also like to share the story of becoming Claire’s partner in 2002. They had seen each other in various homes and games, but Inger-Lise boldly invited herself to a bridge tournament in Florida after Claire explained that she did not have a particular partner. They were on a plane to Florida though they had not played previously and did not know each other very well. That was the beginning of a wonderful friendship and bridge partnership. They have attended many Nationals, cruises and games. Inger-Lise has never regretted being so bold as to invite herself to Florida!!!
P.S. Claire and Inger-Lise did extremely well in the game on her birthday as everyone celebrated her milestone!
